It's the Final Countdown...

So sang "Europe" in 1986, and what a bag of crap it was! You certainly won't find THE GLUTEN-FREE TRIO covering that one anytime soon, but the title does seem rather pertinent to today's blog, given that it's now less than a week to our launch night at Scallywag on March 7th.
If honest, the pre-show butterflies are already taking wing, what with this being our first full-on, no-holds-barred gig, but we're very much looking forward to it and pre-bookings for the event would suggest we're not the only ones. On the downside, the "Beast from the East" (Weather from Wherever) has blighted several attempts to get together for rehearsals, and looks set to continue to do so for the next few days. This is particularly scary as we have a completely new (well, second-hand, but new to us) PA system to hook up and have so far not had the opportunity for a dummy run beyond checking the individual pieces of kit stored in my son's bedroom can communicate with each other. Kit stored elsewhere may well have different ideas, but we'll have to wait and see. I have stocked up on gaffer tape, guitar leads, mic leads and various other bits and bobs (superglue, insulating tape (shush at the back), wet string etc) in readiness for THE BIG SOUNDCHECK, but have of course taken the additional precaution of two bottles of Jack Daniels and a getaway car should things not pan out as planned. Be warned - this is going to be a balls-out full-steam-ahead Rock 'n' Roll Circus: our last amp went up to two, but this one goes all the way up to three and we'll be taking no prisoners.
Anyway, that's about it from GF3 Central for now... By this time next week our first flight will have landed and we'll be catapulted toward international superstardom and all the rewards and pitfalls that come with it. We hope you'll accompany us on that journey, enjoying the ride as much as we do.
