AND WE'RE OFF...

... With our first real blog and a brief history lesson on the origins of The Gluten Free Trio.

Gluteneers Peppy Scott & David Smith have been working together for several years now as performance poets, supporting each other at various events in and around Kent and Sussex. Over time their individual performances evolved to include occasional skits and monologues, and from these collaborations emerged the double-act Flitt and Folio. As Pam (Flitt) and Ivor (Folio) they introduced their poetry to a wider audience, and eventually added song to their repertoire by "borrowing" the skills of Cockney Singalong legend Tom Carradine to musically accompany them at a variety of open mics. As they added more compositions to their portfolio it became increasingly clear that a musical third was needed to realise their full ambition of getting "Tunbridge Wells: The Musical" off the ground, and the search was on to find a like-minded performer to complete the trio. After an exhausting search they finally lucked in when finding David Todd; a fine musician and composer with a sense of humour that segued nicely with their own.

For the past six months or so the GF3 have been working to bring the various strands of their individual performances together into a whole that is certainly much bigger than the sum of its parts. To date they have restricted themselves to showcasing individual songs and performance pieces, but their reputation has grown to the point that they are now ready to host a full evening's entertainment under their own banner. Their first outing, Carry on Regardless, is scheduled to take place on March 7th 2018 at Scallywag, Tunbridge Wells. It would be lovely if you could join us for the fun and laughter and help make our maiden flight an unforgettable event. Just click the link above to pre-book and avoid disappointment.
